Speaker Profile

Ph.D., Program Director, Intelligent Optical Systems
Biography

Beginning with his Ph.D. studies at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Madrid, Spain, 1995-2000), Dr. Jesus Delgado have accumulated over 25 years of experience in optical chemical sensor development. In 2000 he joined an engineering company (Interlab IEC) as Sensor Area Manager, I had the opportunity to apply and extend his knowledge of optical chemical sensors, while at the same time acquiring important experience in project administration, and participating in consortiums involving large corporations, small businesses, and university groups. Since joining IOS in 2009 as a Senior Scientist first and later as Program Director, he has directed numerous R&D projects in which he applies his expertise in industrial and aerospace monitoring to the development of optical fiber sensors for medical applications. He is the Principal Investigator of the projects “Biopsy Optical Sensor for In Situ Tissue Analysis” and “Implantable Sensor for Tumor Microenvironment Monitoring”.

Clinical & Research Tools Showcase: Intelligent Optical Systems, Inc.
Intelligent Optical Systems, Inc. is a highly innovative R&D organization and supplier of chemical and biological sensing technologies.

Sensor Integrated Biopsy Device
IOS has developed a sensor integrated biopsy device for in-situ tissue analysis that enables biopsy teams to measure local tissue chemistry in real time during biopsy procedures. This will guide the surgeon in placing the needle in the core of the tumor mass and in areas of high cell viability.
