Biography
As the Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Seema Verma oversees a $1 trillion budget, 26% of the total federal budget, and administers health care programs for more than 130 million Americans every day. Since joining the Trump Administration, Administrator Verma has set goals for digital health information that will empower patients and transform healthcare. She has updated documentation guidelines and reduced administrative burden through the “Patients over Paperwork” initiative and advanced new alternative bundled payment methodologies to motivate providers to furnish services more efficiently, improve quality, and better coordinate care. Under her leadership, CMS has also saved seniors $320 million per year in prescription drug costs through changes to payment under the 340B drug discount program.
