Sam Hawgood

Biography

Sam Hawgood, who trained in pediatrics with a sub-specialty interest in neonatology, arrived at UCSF in 1982 as a research fellow. Launching his own laboratory in 1984, he has earned an international reputation in neonatology research. Dr. Hawgood was appointed chancellor in July 2014 and also holds the Arthur and Toni Rembe Rock Distinguished Professor appointment. Previously, he was dean of the UCSF School of Medicine and vice chancellor for medical affairs.
