Dr. Lawrence Corey, also known as Larry, M.D., served as the President and Director of Vaccine and Infectious Disease Division at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center from January 1, 2011 to November 2014. Dr. Corey is a Co-founder at Juno Therapeutics Inc served as its Director. Dr. Corey is the Principal Clinical Investigator of the HIV Vaccine Trials Network (HVTN) of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). He is a Professor of Medicine and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Washington. He has extensive experience with the development of experimental vaccines for both genital herpes and HIV. He served as the Joint Head of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center Clinical Research Division’s Program in Infectious Diseases and the Virology Division of the University of Washington’s Department of Laboratory Medicine. Dr. Corey served as the Chairman of Scientific Advisory Board at Immune Design Corp. He serves as a Director of Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. Dr. Corey serves as a member of Scientific Advisory Board at Immune Design Corp. He serves as Member of Advisory Board at Implicit Bioscience Limited. He serves as a Member of the Scientific Advisory Board of GenPhar, Incorporated. Dr. Corey is a member of the editorial board for the New England Journal of Medicine. He specializes in herpes viruses, HIV and other infectious disease-related research, especially viral infections. Dr. Corey is an attending physician in Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease at the University of Washington affiliated hospitals. He is a Member of numerous committees and editorial boards in areas of infectious diseases, HIV infection, and HIV vaccines. He is a fellow of the Infectious Diseases Society of America and is a member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation, American Epidemiological Society and Association of American Physicians. he is the recipient of the Pan American Society’s Clinical Virology Award, the American Society for STD Research’s Parran Award, and the University of Michigan Medical School’s Distinguished Alumnus Award. He received his infectious diseases training at the University of Washington. He has authored 9 books and 470 publications on infectious disease topics. Dr. Corey received his Bachelor’s and Medical degrees from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
