Biography
Kristina Kermanshahche is Global Director Life Sciences at Intel Corporation, where she defines Intel’s Life Sciences business strategy and leads industry enabling, pathfinding investment and solution development worldwide. She is a valued thought leader, working with national governments and scientific experts alike to overcome systemic challenges, scale in silico bioinformatics pipelines to keep pace with the output of high throughput instruments, and foster the use of optimized AI and high performance computing, resulting in strategic, disruptive product innovation worldwide. Her 30-year career in software and service development spans nearly every industry, with an emphasis on complex distributed systems, parallelism, high availability, networking, and data science. Focused exclusively on health life sciences since 2005, she holds a patent in healthcare semantic interoperability. She received her B.A. degree from the Robert D. Clarke Honors College, University of Oregon, in Political Science and International Studies, magna cum laude. Member Phi Beta Kappa Society.
Session Abstract – PMWC 2018 Silicon Valley
Session Synopsis: We see an emerging era of potential explosive growth of AI applications in healthcare, but the implementation and access to AI is challenged by isolated data stores and the high degree of complexity of the available tools. Furthermore, deep learning requires lots of data to train and refine models which, in turn, complicates and burdens compute systems as well as data movement. This panel will discuss AI and machine learning systems requirements, and potential paths to overcoming the challenges of AI implementation.
