Biography
During the past 15 years Jani has worked as a researcher, healthcare management consultant and entrepreneur. His expertise is in design and digitalization of healthcare services. Jani has worked with many of the leading cancer clinics around the world. He has also been an adviser for Pharmaceutical companies helping them adopt service-centered business models and digital solutions in oncology. During his career as Managing Director at design agency Kaufmann, Jani was devoted to the development of more customer-centered services, especially within cancer care. Together with his colleagues Jani went on to found Noona Healthcare – the start-up behind mobile service Noona, which helps cancer centers monitor the wellbeing of their patients and reallocate resources to where they are needed most. Jani believes in a future where everyone has access to the best cancer care available.

Patient-reported Outcomes – The New Driving Force in Cancer Care
Recent randomized controlled trials have shown survival benefits of several months, when digital patient-reported outcomes tools are implemented in cancer care.These results are expected to speed up the paradigm shift from reactive to proactive care that is enabled by modern PROs technology, smart algortihms and digital data. PROs have the potential to become one of the new driving forces in cancer treatment decision making.
Session Abstract – PMWC 2018 Silicon Valley
Session Synopsis: New evidence-based strategists are helping cancer patients live longer and improve their quality of life. This session will review recent results from clinical trials with patients with advanced cancer show that a simple web-based system can provide major benefits to patients, including living longer, a mobile app for patients that improves quality of life, and a new class of medications that is effective at slowing the growth of metastatic breast cancer for patients with a BRCA-related genetic mutation that currently have no effective treatment options.
