Session Abstract – PMWC 2017 Silicon Valley

Session Synopsis: DNA is not manifest destiny for health. It is the dynamic interaction of DNA, RNA, proteins, lipids and other cellular components within the larger context of diet, environment and geography. This session will explore the boundaries of possible medical and wearable devices that connect the genotype to the phenotype.

Biography

Amer Haider is the CEO and Co-Founder of Doctella.com, a company that has pioneered the use of smart checklists for patients and families so they know what to do, when to do it and why. Prior to Doctella, Amer managed M&A at Cavium (NASDAQ: CAVM). Amer has been involved in starting, investing, growing and acquiring companies that have raised over $100 million in venture capital, have been acquired for over $200M and have had a successful public offering creating combined equity value of over $2 billion. Amer has created and managed products in the areas of digital health, security, networking, mobility, SAAS, embedded software and semiconductor processors generating over $1 billion in sales. He holds 9 issued patents in the areas of security and digital processors. He serves on the board of Ponseti International Association for Clubfeet and manages the Grant for Study of Skeletal Dysplasia for Dwarfism.

Biography

Mr. Todd Gray leads research and design efforts in biometric and health related sciences including the Internet of Me (IoMe) for connected living. Mr. Gray is the principle inventor of the systems, methods and apparatus’ of the Bio_Sole platform. Recognizing the platforms potential, FLEX this year listed the Bio_Sole: “as one of the 50 most intelligent things on the planet.” Mr. Gray dropped out of high school to support his family. Junior jobs and entrepreneurial failures led him to the telecommunications sector and introduced him to the early versions of the World Wide Web. Mr. Gray developed a passionate understanding of computers, networks and technology. This drive lead to his focus toward finding a method to identify a person positively, rapidly and without a need to authenticate the identification through an external source. The method proved to be the founding of a new discipline in biometric sciences.

Ashwin is the founder and CEO of Sano. Sano is the first company of its kind, dedicated to helping all consumers understand their individual metabolic characteristics. Sano’s product combines a novel sensor technology with nutritional insights, allowing consumers to make more personalized choices about nutrition and exercise. Ashwin believes that every body is uniquely different and requires a personalized approach to health and fitness. With the ability to measure the impact of dietary choices on the body, Sano is uniquely positioned to uncover the data necessary to build more effective, personalized nutrition, fitness, and therapeutic plans. Before Sano, Ashwin was on the founding team of SinuSys, a medical device company developing new therapies to improve sinus health. He was previously at Bain Capital, investing in technology and semiconductor companies. Ashwin received a dual BS/BA in Bioengineering and Economics and an MS in Bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania.
