Speaker Profile

MSCI, Ph.D., Research Scientist, Stanford University
Biography

Dr. Israt Alam is a Research Scientist in the Radiology Department at Stanford University in the Multimodality Molecular Imaging Lab led by Professor Sanjiv Sam Gambhir. A Biochemist by training, her current research focuses on studying mechanisms of lymphocyte activation with the motivation of developing clinically applicable imaging tools to monitor spatiotemporal immune dynamics in response to immunotherapy and better understand mechanisms governing treatment success and failure. Additionally, she is interested in the application of these non-invasive approaches for early detection of immune driven diseases such as Graft versus Host Disease. She received her PhD, at the University of Cambridge for her work on monitoring tumor response to chemotherapy and undertook further training at Imperial College London and the Pasteur Institute, Paris. Her work has supported the clinical translation of several nuclear imaging agents for early diagnosis and prediction of treatment response for improved patient management.
